Primary Sacrament Presentation

Yesterday was the annual Primary Sacrament Presentation at our ward. One Sunday of the year (usually in the last quarter), the Primary Organization is given the time after the passing and blessing of the sacrament to make a presentation. This is a chance for the primary children to show off to their parents and to the congregation what they have been learning in primary classes.
One or two of the graduating primary (kids who turn 12 are transferred to the young women/men organization) will give a 10 minute talk then the rest of the children will be taking their turns reciting a line or two of the principles and/or values that they've learned throughout the year and singing primary hymns that relate to the Sharing Time Theme for the year.

This year, the theme was I WILL FOLLOW GOD'S PLAN FOR ME and 30 kids had their turn at the mic. And the songs they sang were:

I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus
Love One Another (with ASL)
Choose the Right Way
I Will Follow God's Plan
Nephi's Courage

These are the superkids' lines:

Jam: I will only read and listen to materials that are pleasing to Heavenly Father. I will live now to be worthy.

Jeremy: I will go to the Temple and will serve a mission.

Justin: I will not swear or use crude words.

Johanna: I will choose the right.

Jam is Catwoman

Jam didn't win the best costume award or in any of the other contests that she joined. But evenso, she didn't feel or act disappointed. We're very relieved and proud of her good spirits. I thought she was very beautiful in her make up and costume. And she said she got a lot of compliments from her classmates and teachers alike. She wore her batgirl costume and my mom painted her like a cat or tiger. Don't know anybody who is both a bat and a cat :p Catwoman probably tried to possess Batman, and ended up looking like a crossdresser.

Best Halloween Costume!

I couldn't believe it! Last night was Jeremy's school's halloween party and he came as a zombie and he won the best costume award! I arrived late from work and only witnessed the last few minutes of the party and i saw how the other kids were dressed up. There were some really scary costumes last night. We only put face paint on Jeremy and dressed him in all black. I know the teachers told the parents not to buy costumes so I guess they disqualified the obviously-bought-from-sm get ups. He joined the statue dance and also won. Thus, my little boy was understably deliriously happy at the end of the party. He got lots of candies and magic pencils (don't know what magic they do) as prize. He also got to scare and show off to the the neighborhood kids when we got home. They were shouting for Darna, "Darna, nasan ka, nandito na mga zombies!" which had all of us grown-ups laughing hard. Makeup credits go to my mom, the proud Lola. She got lots of pats in the back from the other parents in school. Later today, she'll try to repeat the feat. Its Jam's turn to have a party tonight. Might not be too late for her to start a new career :)

We Love You and Miss You, Dey!

Today marks the 1st year death anniversary of Lorna Cabardo Barcelona, or Dey as we called her, beloved mother to Justin and Johanna, and loving wife to Alan.

Altho short the time she had been with us, we are eternally grateful for the way she had blessed our family with her compassionate and gentle nature. We'll remember her always for her humility and for her sacrifices and patience. No one can be kinder and more forgiving than our Dey. God must have judged this place unworthy of her, that's why she was taken to a place more deserving of her purity.

JUSTIN C. BARCELONA

...justin is 9 years old and is in grade 4 at peter paul academy in gen. trias, cavite. he is shy and retiring and would usually be very quiet in company.

JOHANNA C. BARCELONA

chinchin or just chin, is 4 years old and is in nursery at his kuya's school.

Jam and Jeremy

Here it is at last! The journal about the important events and happenings in the lives of the 6 Barcelona and Barcelona-Torres kids! As witnessed and recorded by us, their parents. The seed of this blog was first planted about 2 or 3 months ago (thanks to Steven, who did the planting in my mind). Only now has it finally come to fruition. It is hoped that this blog would in some way make these kids realize and strive to attain their full potential, and show them how deeply we love each of them.

Ok here are the lead characters of this blog. We start off with...........

MARY JASMINE B. TORRES

also known as Jam, is 7 years old and would turn 8 next year on January 10, 2006. She is shy and soft-spoken but loves to sing and dance. She is a 2nd grader in Fiat Lux Academe in Imus, Cavite and is in section Dignity. Her favorite subjects are Science and English and she loves to read fairy tale books. Her favorite Disney princess is Aurora, the sleeping beauty. She is currently learning how to play the piano. This girl, who is constantly underweight, only weighed 1600 grams (less than 4lbs.) when she came to this world. A premature baby at 34 weeks.....my first ever miracle.

next is her brother........

JEREMIAH HYRUM B. TORRES

Jeremy, as we call him, is a first grader in his ate's school. He's in section Charity. Only six years old, and would turn seven this coming 10th of December, 2005. He has a very active mind and body and can be compared to a raging tornado on his good days. He likes to skip and run rather than walk. He has a habit of talking in breathless detail about anything that catches his attention, which could be just about anything. Most of the time he yells it. He can eat 2 platefuls of rice if you serve it with sinigang or Jollibee's chicken joy. Likewise, he can live on tuna and rice alone if we let him. He likes reciting dialogues of his fave cartoon movies. The Lion King is his all time favorite.

Justin and Johanna

...we continue with the introduction of the next two super kids....

Justin is 9 years old and is the more reserved of the two. A bit shy around strangers but very naughty when with his cousins...he is a grade 4 student at Peter Paul Academy in Parklane Country Homes i Gen. Trias, Cavite. On the day he knew his mother died, he was so quiet and he didn't even asked questions how it happened. He wasn't even crying. I only saw him cry before the funeral march and at the cemetery. All the same, he was the one who came to accept the fact quickest amongst us and he has been back to his old self soonest.
